At work, I am comfortable in any operating system environment. Be it Windows, Linux or macOS; I have commercial experience managing each for small to medium sized businesses in my previous role as a Systems Administrator. I occasionally support dxw with their internal IT requirements, primarily in an advisory role.
My primary role tends to include a lot of Infrastructure Engineering using tools like Terraform, or self-authored CLI scripts. I’m quite comfortable working in both Azure and AWS.
In the past, I have lead on the management of a company’s IT estate, in addition to planning, implementing and supporting internal policies and procedures that contribute to the continued ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. I try to keep my ear to the ground regarding IT security and always try to play my part in encouraging industry best practices.
I’ve been involved with scoping and architectural decision making for the majority of clients prior to joining dxw, so I have had opportunity to work at scale, designing highly-available solutions.
At home, I explore, experiment, break and eventually fix my own homeserver appliances. This gives me a unique opportunity to get hands-on with industry recognised hypervisors like VMware ESXi and Microsoft’s Hyper-V, and muck around with Docker containers. I also self-host and manage a Plex Media Server for my friends and family.
